What happens in a Japanese head spa
The tradition comes out of Japanese salons, where the scalp is treated as skin that deserves the same care as the face. A session follows a sequence rather than a checklist: the therapist looks at the scalp first, then cleanses it, then spends most of the hour on the scalp, neck and shoulders — pressure points, long strokes, a hot towel or steam to open things up — before a careful rinse, conditioning, and a light dry. The pace is the point. You leave with a clean, calm scalp and, most people say, the deepest relaxation they have had in a chair.
